The joy of working outdoors allows one to be free and spontaneous, to capture the feel of a place in a short time. When I work indoors on watercolors, my paintings become more controlled. I'll work layer over layer and be very conscious of wanting to create a mood or psychological element. I want the painting to evoke a feeling where the viewer becomes involved.
